Rome is very nice. I'm sure you know that already. It's beautiful and historical and everyone should, I guess, see it at some point in their lives (and judging by the number of tourists there, everyone will). Also, maybe some of the holiness will rub off on you and that can't hurt.
Now I don't mean to sound spoiled or ungrateful (thanks mom and dad) but I couldn't help but think, while I was there, that it's no Croatia. Croatia has the food, the history, the beauty, the language and the culture. I admit I traveled far more of Croatia and had some amazing local guides so it might not be a fair comparison. All I can say is that if you're in that part of the world, go. If you must, take a ferry from Italy.
