Zu
Zweit is a
portrait project exploring the relationships between queer identified people in
Berlin, Germany. It explores trans* identity, parenting outside of cultural
norms, partnerships and legal status including images of lovers, partners,
married couples, friends and blood relatives. Inspired in part by her own
family’s recent “non-traditional” evolution, the artist explores chosen and
blood family ties through various formations of pairs of people, at least one
of who identifies as queer. The photographs challenge our expectations of
contemporary queer representation in a real-world environment; Zu Zweit is
a look at how people form, define and present their own families.
